Reproductive Equity Day!

Join us for the Disability Reproductive Equity Day Celebration on Friday, May 16 at Access Living for an afternoon of community, storytelling, and action! In addition to a powerful program featuring lived experiences and panel discussions on reproductive health care policy, we’re excited to debut three new policy briefs developed through our collaborative reproductive justice initiative:

  • Reproductive Justice Policy & Disability

  • Maternal Medicaid Matters

  • Reproductive Justice in Maternal Deserts.

These briefs uplift the needs of disabled people in reproductive policy conversations and lay the groundwork for future advocacy. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, connect, and mobilize for change!

Critical Cases

Buck v. Bell

1927

A Supreme Court case that upheld the forced sterilization of disabled individuals, legally entrenching eugenics-based reproductive oppression in the United States.

Skinner v. Oklahoma

1942

A Supreme Court decision that ruled compulsory sterilization laws targeting certain classes of criminals unconstitutional, affirming reproductive autonomy as a fundamental human right under the Equal Protection Clause.

Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization

2022

A Supreme Court case that eliminated the constitutional right to abortion, significantly harming disabled people's reproductive autonomy by exacerbating intersectional health, social, and economic inequities.

Join the Collective

The CRDJ Reproductive Justice Collective began as a core research working group committed to understanding and addressing the deep injustices faced by BIPOC disabled people in reproductive health, rights, and care. While that initial group continues its focused research work, we’ve expanded to include a larger collective for anyone who is passionate about advancing reproductive justice through a disability and racial justice lens. Whether you bring lived experience, policy expertise, organizing skills, or a desire to learn and grow in community, we invite you to join us. This is a space for collaboration, care, and collective visioning toward liberated reproductive futures.
